Dzvukamanja Hits the Ground Running

Orlando Pirates’ new arrival, Zimbabwean striker Terrence Dzvukamanja was on target as Orlando Pirates snatched a semifinal place of the MTN8 yesterday.

Dzvukamanja’s debut goal was enough for Orlando Pirates to 10-men Cape Town City at Orlando Stadium, a signal which shows that the Zimbabwean international has a lot to repay his paymasters.

The former Ngezi Platinum star had the first opportunity of the game but directed his header over the bar after a brilliant free-kick by Gabadinho Mhango.

On the 23rd minute, Dzvukamanja had another opportunity in the air and this time he made no mistake as the Soweto giants took the lead.

Wayde Jooste turned his marker inside out on the right-hand side and swung in an inch perfect inswinging cross for Dzvukamaja who rose highest and guided the ball in to the far corner.

Cape Town City were dealt another blow soon after Dzvukamanja’s goal as Lakay was sent off for a studs-ups challenge on Jooste.

Orlando Pirates head coach Josef Zinnbauer, replaced Dzvukamanja with Kabelo Dlamini during the second half as he sort a second cushioning goal.

Despite the numerical advantage, Orlando Pirates failed to add more to their tally with Lepasa guilty of missing a great chance after being put through on goal on the 85th minute of play.
