Intensified Teachers Struggle Pushes PSC & Teachers Meeting Further

The much anticipated meeting between the Government and the National Joint Negotiation Committee (NJNC) today has been finally postponed to next week, Monday 2 November 2020, My Gokwe reports.

This comes out at a time the teachers were on a great dilemma on whether their long holiday had come to an end and that on Monday they will be back to the classroom.

At a time the teachers were in this dilemma it is reported that a circular from the Public Service Commission was share clearing all the fears.

This means that our long holiday have been extended to next week Friday. We thank the teacher’s initiative to resist all kind of nonsense,” explained a teacher.

Some saw this postponement as nothing but a victory by the teachers as a counter struggle against the government and ZIMTA leadership meeting. Following this meeting teachers across the divide united and shouted with one voice that ZIMTA must fall.

This line of thinking was shared by yet another Teacher on the grounds on anonymity for fear of victimisation.

We are not aware of the reasons except one given from the circular that it was after a request by the Unions. What we know is that there was a fire outbreak on the Social Media with teachers calling for the fall of ZIMTA. Now we are told the meeting was postponed and we conclude that there is a link between the two“.
