Incoming Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has revealed the player he is excited to work with once he takes over at the club.
Amorim will become the new head coach on Monday after putting pen to paper a two-and-a-half-year deal.
The Portuguese head coach will leave Sporting Lisbon after Manchester United agreed to pay the compensation fee. He will take over from Erik ten Hag, who was sacked last month after a spate of poor results. Club legend Ruud van Nistelrooy has been in charge on an interim basis.
Amorim has been answering questions on his new role with many expecting him to return the Red Devils back to their glory days. He will have the headstart of working with players he knew from previous roles.
The 39-year-old has expressed his excitement about working with Manuel Ugarte again. The duo won the league title in Portugal before the Uruguayan moved to Paris Saint-Germain.
“All the Uruguayans I managed are incredible, and that’s why I love all Uruguayans. Ugarte is a very talented boy and has a lot of room to grow. I am very happy to know that I have him back at Manchester United.”
Ugarte has struggled to impose himself as expected at Old Trafford and will hope that Amorim will help him settle quickly in the new environment. He only started one game under Erik ten Hag but has featured in all three under Van Nistelrooy.
