In light of the recent surge of explicit videos circulating on social media, Nevers Mumba, leader of the Movement for Multi-Party Democracy (MMD) and a prominent preacher, has advised young people to steer clear of pornographic content.
The Impact of Disturbing Content
Last week, social media was inundated with scandalous videos featuring a government official from Equatorial Guinea, who allegedly produced hundreds of explicit recordings.
As Zambians grappled with the fallout from these disturbing revelations, attention quickly shifted to even more shocking videos involving a Zambian cameraman.
According to Zambian law, specifically Section 177 of the Penal Code Act Chapter 87 and Section 56 of the Cyber Security and Cyber Crimes Act No. 2 of 2021, possessing obscene material—including adult or minor pornography—is a criminal offense.
A Call for Mindfulness
Mumba took to his Facebook page to remind youths about the dangers of consuming such content.
He emphasized the importance of being mindful about what they view online, stating, “Remember the Word of God says in Psalm 101:3 (KJV), ‘I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes.’”

He cautioned that just because something has gone viral does not mean it is acceptable to share or engage with it.
“Just because something has gone viral doesn’t mean you should also participate in sharing and consuming filth,” he wrote.
Promoting Positive Choices
Mumba’s message serves as a critical reminder for young people to make conscious choices about their media consumption.
In an age where explicit content can easily go viral, it’s essential for individuals to prioritize their mental and emotional well-being by avoiding harmful material.
By fostering a culture of mindfulness and responsibility, youths can contribute to a healthier online environment.
