HARARE, January 10, 2025 – Championship-winning coach Tonderai ‘Stanza’ Ndiraya is setting his sights high as he embarks on his maiden season with newly promoted Scottland FC in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL).
Following a successful tenure at Simba Bhora, where he led the team to a historic championship title, Ndiraya is eager to make an impact with his new club, owned by gold dealer and businessman Scott Sakupwanya.
A New Chapter for Scottland FC
Ndiraya stepped into the role after replacing Genesis Mangombe, who recently departed after successfully guiding Scottland to promotion.
The coach expressed his ambitions clearly upon his unveiling: “My hope is that we have a successful maiden season.”
This statement indicates his aspirations for silverware, targeting either the league title or the Chibuku Super Cup, the two prominent trophies in Zimbabwean football.
“I’m incredibly excited for obvious reasons. This is the biggest and hottest franchise due to what the club has done so far,” Ndiraya stated, emphasizing his enthusiasm for leading such a well-regarded team.
Building a Competitive Squad
Since Ndiraya’s arrival, Scottland FC has been proactive in strengthening its squad, making over 15 signings to assemble a talented roster.
The team now boasts some of the best players in the league across all positions, including notable names like Talbert Shumba, Taimon Mvula, Marvelous Chigumira, Godknows Murwira, Peter Muduhwa, Khama Billiat, Walter Musona, and Lynoth Chikuhwa.
This influx of talent positions Scottland FC as a formidable contender in their debut season in the top-flight league, and Ndiraya’s leadership will be crucial in harnessing this potential.
Looking Ahead
As Tonderai Ndiraya prepares for the challenges that lie ahead in the PSL, he remains focused on instilling a winning mentality within his squad.
With high expectations from fans and stakeholders alike, the upcoming season promises to be an exciting journey for both the coach and Scottland FC.
The question remains: can Ndiraya replicate his previous successes and lead Scottland FC to glory in their inaugural season?
Only time will tell as the PSL kicks off, but one thing is certain—Ndiraya’s ambition and determination are set to make waves in Zimbabwean football.
