Janet Munyaka Dies

A veteran journalist Janet Munyaka who was a diplomatic correspondent for ZBC has died after contracting COVID-19.

Munyaka, who was 48, had been admitted at St Anne’s, a dedicated COVID-19 facility since last week when she tested positive to the coronavirus.

Announcing the bad news, ZBC wrote on their twitter handle; “The ZBC wishes to announce the tragic passing of veteran journalist and Diplomatic Correspondent Janet Munyaka who succumbed to Covid-19 this Saturday evening. The ZBC Board, Management and staff extend our deepest condolences to Janet’s family at this very difficult moment.”

Reacting to the news, the minister for Information

Munyaka had served for decades at ZBC having joined in 2000 and she is survived by her husband and their four children. Mourners were Saturday night gathering at the family home in Harare’s Westgate area.
