Zimbabwe has lost another serving minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Sibusiso Busi Moyo who has died of COVID-19 related complications, My Gokwe has leant.

He was 61.

According to reports, the former top soldier, famed for announcing the November 2017 coup that removed late President Robert Mugabe, had been unwell for some time.

Moyo is the latest top government official to succumb to the dreaded disease following the weekend death of Manicaland provincial affairs minister Ellen Gwaradzimba.

Perrance Shiri, another of the top military commanders who organised the 2017 coup, also died from Covid-19 last year. He was agriculture minister at the time.

Covid-19 cases are increasing to rise each day with a total of 52 deaths recorded in the past 24 hours together with 783 new cases to take the total number of cases for Zimbabwe to 28,675.
