The Black Stars of Ghana could not take it well when their 18th minute lead was cancelled out 2 minutes before stoppage time by the Panthers of Gabon in their second match of in Group C this evening.

In the 18th minute, Ghana’s all time goal scorer, Andre Ayew produced a prolific strike, beeting Gabon’s goalkeeper to give them a lead.

70 minutes were played with Gabon trailing behind Ghana who was seating second in the group with 3 points behind Morocco (6 points) until Gabon’s Jim Allevinah found back of the net 2 minutes before stoppage.

The goal changed everything as it took Ghana to third position in the group with 1 point while Gabon moved to second with 4 points.

Emotions rose as the players played the last 3 added minutes and it took referee’s final whistle for them to blow.

It was a full royal rumble flow in the ground as Ghanaian players failed to accept the celebrations by Gabon players.

It took the referee and the Video Assistant Referee Minutes before they could identify a red card victim who was later identified as Benjamin Tetteh, the striker.

As the match ended, Ghana’s prayer is to beat tournament debutantes Comoros to have a possibility of being the third best places to progress to the next round in the group.

Morocco as well as Gabon are however through to the round of 16 despite Gabon missing its captain Aubameyang and Mario lemina
