Jason Machaya, the former Provincial Affairs Minister for Midlands who was facing charges of abuse of office has been sentenced to four years in prison, for the criminal abuse of office My Gokwe can reveal.

 However, 10 months and a week were suspended in case he will not commit the same offence.

He appeared in Gweru Provincial High Court together with Chisayinirwa Chibururu who is the provincial planning officer in the Midlands Province.

The two were convicted by the Gweru Provincial Magistrate, Charity Maphosa and remanded in custody after found guilty of abuse of office.

The Former Gokwe Legislature who was arrested on the 3rd of January 2018 was out on ZWL1000 bail facing allegations of unlawfully allocating and disposing of state land.

My Gokwe Media House found from the Gokwe residents that, Mr Machaya was implicated in the opening and establishment of Mlalazi Residential Area, in the Gokwe, Kambasha Area, behind the Air Strip and the Gokwe Hotel. It was also confirmed that, ten residential stands were allocated to the Triations World Marketing Property Development Company.

Mr Machaya owns the Green Diamond Hotel in the Gokwe Kambasha Business Centre and the Green Diamond Complex in the Gokwe Centre along Mateta Road and various other properties.

Mr Machaya and his ally tried by all means to escape arrest. They argued that they served the government for a long time, they are now too old and that they were diagnosed of diabetes and BP.

Mr Muchadehama claimed that he will challenge the case in the High Court and request for a bail. Their request to pay 900 000 USD bail was dismissed by the judge on the grounds that it was not stated in the case hearing that the government had made such a loss.
