COVID-19: Zim Hits 25000 Cases 

Zimbabwe, which has seen a sharp rise in COVID-19 cases since the beginning of 2021, has recorded more than 25000 cases to date.

Early this year, Vice President and Health Minister Constantino Chiwenga announced a lockdown in a bid to cub the spread of COVID-19 in the country.

Despite all those efforts, hundreds of new cases are being recorded each day with also death toll rising at an alarming rate.

“COVID-19 update: As at 14 January 2021, Zimbabwe had 25 368 confirmed cases, including 14 714 recoveries and 636 deaths“, wrote Ministry of Health on their twitter.

According to the stats from COVID19ZIM, Zimbabwe has recorded more than 6000 cases in the past seven days since the 7th of January with more than 150 deaths.

African Union Members States in general are also recoding serious numbers of COVID-19 deaths and infections.

To date (15 January 2021, 9am EAT), the member states for the African Union have recorded 3,176,575 COVID-19 cases and 76,752 deaths.
