Greenlight for Intercity Travel Resumption 

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has eased lockdown requirements by allowing non-essential industry to reopen and has removed the need for citizens to carry travel documents permitting movement.

Speaking during the state of the nation address this afternoon, the President announced the resumption of intercity travel adding that the bus crews must ensure social distance, wearing of masks, temperature checks and disinfection of the buses.

President Mnangagwa announced that the curfew has been further relaxed and will now run from 10 pm to 5:30 am.

He added that schools, universities and colleges must prepare to open in line with the World Health Organisation (WHO ) guidelines.

President Mnangagwa also said that companies that do not follow the requirements will be closed down.

He also said wearing of masks and social distancing remains mandatory in public places.

“Going forward, the following review is made, to previously announced lockdown measures, the wearing of face masks, temperature checks, as well as washing of hands or use of sanitizers in all public areas remains mandatory.

“The curfew is adjusted and will now be from 10 pm to 5:30 in the morning, letters are no longer required for movement, and supermarkets can now be open up to 7 pm to reduce the congestion and must ensure social distancing within their premises.

“The industry must open with strict adherence to World Health Organization set standards, the regular disinfection of premises, social distancing, hand sanitization and use of body temperature checks at entrances must continue,” he said.
