The Parliament of Zimbabwe has lost two legislators this week, creating two more vacancies in the Country’s House of assembly.

Four days ago, MDC Alliance lost its deputy secretary for policy and research who was also Kuwadzana Legislator, Miriam Mushayi.

Today, it has been confirmed that the legislator for Marondera East, Patrick Chidhakwa has died from heart ailment to become the second MP death in a week.

The death of Chidhakwa was confirmed by a family spokesperson, Richard Mavhunga who said the diseased died in a hospital in South Africa.

Chidhakwa was diabetic and had heart ailment.

Caston Matewu, Marondera Central MP for the MDC Alliance also confirmed the death of ZANU PF legislator.

Matewu said, “I am learning with sadness of the death of our neighbouring MP Hon. Patrick Chidakwa of Marondera East. May his soul rest in peace”.

Chidhakwa was once a Councilor and Marondera Rural District Council chair before he was elected as the Marondera East MP in 2018.
