Bambelela Hit Maker Lining Up Fifth Album in a Different Style 

As part of My Gokwe Media’s initiative to track and identify Gokwe legends and heroes, today was one of the most exciting day as we realised that Gokwe has actually a talent in the form of Sybs Given.

Given Siyabonga whose stage name is Sybs Given has taken the flag of his hometown Gokwe to greater heights as the artist is scaling to greater heights in the music spheres and has since eyeing a totally new genre in his fifth album.

Sybs Given who joined the music industry in 2012, has since produced four albums to his name accompanied by two videos.

In an interview with My Gokwe Media, Sybs Given highlighted that he had to endure 4 years in the industry before he later started his own project in 2016, though he had tested the studio some two years back, in 2014.

“2012 I formed a music group and called it Priesthood Music. It had a membership of about 30. My first studio experience was in 2014 when we recorded my first song called Hakuna Mumwe, which was done under the Church Name,” said Sybs Given.

As a music journey, in 2016 he started his own project and recorded his first album called SteppingUp which had 7 tracks.

Sybs Given went on to say that, “2017 I did a follow up of my first Album and did Hlabelela which has 13 songs.”

To add some flavour and blending, Sybs Given also featured big artists like Trymore Bande in his 2018 album.

”2018 I recorded Nyasha Tadziona a 7 track album, which I featured Trymore Bande on 2 songs,” he added.

The flying Gokwe star did not rest there, in 2019 he went on to recorded a lot of single tracks, which include Cyclone Idai, The Healer, Aripo Munyaradzi and Bambelela which took the Zimbabwe music landscape with a storm.

2020 was a flourishing year for the Gokwe musician as Bambelela made waves across radio stations in the country.

“2020 Bambelela was on number 49 on Radio Zimbabwe Gospel  top 50, 66 on Skyz Metro FM top 100 while The Healer was on Number 62.”

The stats alone speaks volume about how the musician is being accepted across the country,

Sybs Given believes the sky is the limit, thus the gospel singer is now determined to penetrate the sungura market.  To make this dream a reality, in 2020 he started a new sound which is pending to be released this year, 2021.

Speaking to My Gokwe Media Sybs Given demonstrated his ability and zeal to make this dream come true and gave confidence to his thousand followers.

“This album will have Sungura and Rhumba songs only. I have yet gave my fans a test of what will be on this album when I released and shared the first song called Vimba Naye and also Anosorta with a Video for the same song” he said.

Stressing his ability to produce a stunning Sungura and Rhumba Album, Sybs Given shared that he once featured in one of the song of the year in 2017.

“On one of the Sungura songs I featured Madlela the “Ngamnganka USamamoe” hit maker,” he said.

Normally, he is a well-known Rhumba, Gospel and Jazz musician and as such his music have attracted a lot of young generation as well as adults.

“I do Gospel, Jazz, and Rhumba. I always liked Jazz and Rhumba before I started singing so I would see myself singing that type of music” he said.

His music carrier is a product of inspiration from various musicians and not any specific one. This explains “Why I mix my music from what I hear from other artists. Rev T. T. Chivaviro is one of those who inspired me, Dr Oliver Mtukudzi, among others” he narrated.

He also saluted and encouraged his fans to keep the fire burning by adding fuel. His life is that of a fish whose power and life is in water. So does his relationship with his fans.

“My fans, you are the ones who make me keep on going. Your Support so far is overwhelming, I promise to keep on bringing new music to you. Except new videos of our old songs and also new music featuring some big artists” promised his supportive funds.
