This led to the arrest of at least 52 people while music promoter, DJ Fantan is on the run.

National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the police are looking for DJ Fantan, chief suspect in the case, popular music promoter, Fantan, who is allegedly on the run.

However, public opinion is opposed to the police hunt for Fantan leaving the real organisers.

On the same line the Whistle blower on Corruption allegations, Hopewell Chin’ono lambasted the Government for pretending. He twitted:

“@daddyhope would like to inform Government that this event happened less than 100 meters away from Matapi Police Station.

The government should not pretend to be ignorant of this self-evident fact. Furthermore, the Government should not use the world “purportedly.”

“It should google it!”

On another incident, in Manicaland, a businessman is also facing charges of contravening COVID-19 regulations, for hosting a gig where Macheso had been hired to perform on the 31st of December.
